ABOUT US

Our partnership began when we met as teachers near the start of our careers. Working alongside each other for a few years and then growing our families at the same time and experiencing all the nuances of parenthood, cemented our connection as well as carrying on our own individual careers. Our friendship and shared passion for SEND kept us in regular contact where we would continue to passionately discuss SEND issues, in particular challenges affecting neurodivergent young people and the battle individuals and their families often face in the fight for meaningful inclusion. Realising there was a lack of support for those navigating the SEND system, a shared vision was created to develop and champion a truly neuro inclusive environment and that’s how Neuroinclusive Path came to be.

RACHEL

Hello I’m Rachel, co-founder of Neuroinclusive Path, a partnership that empowers families and individuals to navigate the often challenging path of thriving with neurodivergence.

I began my teaching career nearly two decades ago ( or in 2008) as a primary teacher working in a wide range of mainstream schools before specialising as a teacher in Alternative Provision.  I facilitated nurture groups and intervention programmes for children and young people between 5-16 at risk of exclusion, supporting them to successfully transition back into mainstream schools. This work has been both a passion and a privilege leading me to complete my research project on what makes a truly ‘neuro inclusive’ learning environment and to qualify as a Sendco.

My professional experience working with hundreds of neurodivergent young people as well as my lived experience with neurodiversity and parenting means that I really do understand and I really do care. My approach is to support you to identify and channel unique strengths and build strategies to overcome challenges.

I am passionate about empowering people to carve a neuroinclusive path where needs are advocated for and voices are heard. Walking a neuroinclusive path can feel like a lonely road but you don’t have to do it alone.

JO

Hi, I am Jo and one of the creators of Neuroinclusive Path - here to support parents, children and adults on navigating their neurodiversity journeys.

As an empathetic person my passion led me into primary teaching and then further specialising in SEND as a qualified specialist dyslexic teacher and now an experienced SENDCo in mainstream primary.

From my professional work of nearly two decades and my own lived experience parenting my four children with a range of needs, I appreciate how hard it can be to find the right path, be listened to, be understood and to gain success.

Working with a wide variety of agencies, parents and children for many years and seeing the difficulties many face, getting the right support at the right time. This enabled me to see there was a lack of understanding around neurodiversity and I felt I could support families and individuals to navigate the challenges many encounter.

Therefore, I wanted to create something to take away the confusion and stress of the SEND system and be the advocate who can change outcomes for the better.
